3 Mental Health Nurse Vacancies

Bourke, Cobar and Lightning Ridge NSW

The NSW Outback Division of General Practice (NSW ODGP) is a health service provider working to improve the health of people living in the outback shires of Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, and Walgett. NSW ODGP currently has the following full time Mental Health Nurse vacancies in Bourke and Lightning Ridge and is looking for enthusiastic professionals to join the organisation and contribute to our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in north-western NSW.  The NSW ODGP manages a variety of health contracts focusing on early intervention and prevention of disease, chronic disease management, mental health care, healthy lifestyle programs and health promotion.

The Mental Health Nurse will work within the ODGP MHNIP program based upon an innovative, a successful model of care and collaborative service framework involving Local Health District Mental Health Services, General Practice and Aboriginal Health Community controlled services. The MHNIP positions will be working directly with General Practice led multidisciplinary teams in both mainstream GP and Aboriginal Medical Service settings as well as undertaking brief clinical placements with the Local Health District Mental Health services to strengthen the Stepped Model of Care.

It is desirable that the Mental Health Nurse is MHNIP Australian College of Mental Health Nursing (ACHMN) credentialed or at a minimum committed to achieving ACMHN’s credentialing within the first year of service.

Highly attractive salary packages (based on CNS rate - $94,000 to $102,000 plus leave loading and superannuation) will be paid according to qualifications and experience and will be in line with the relevant modern awards. In addition, As a public benevolent health organisation, NSW Outback Division of General Practice Ltd employees are entitled to an attractive salary packaging component or remuneration.  Applicants may also be eligible for substantial financial support for relocation and professional development under the NSWRDN administered Rural Health Professionals Program (RHPP).

About the role:

You will work in an early intervention role, providing assessment and intervention to children 0-8 years old feeding and communication needs.

You will have the opportunity to provide outreach services to communities surrounding Lightning Ridge.

You will have the opportunity to plan and provide education and capacity building programs that meeting the needs of the community.

You will be supported to work in a variety of settings including: preschools, schools, GP clinic and s home visits.

You will work along other allied health professionals including: Occupational therapist and dietitian.

Essential criteria:

Recognised degree in speech pathology. New graduates encouraged to apply!

Current Speech Pathology Australian membership (or willingness to obtain)

Current Woking with Children Check

Current drivers licence

Demonstrated clinical skills in speech pathology including assessment and intervention

Ability to work independently, manage and prioritise workload

Excellent communication and time management skills

Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

A highly attractive salary package starting at $40 per hour is offered based on skills and experience under the Health Professional and Support Services Award of 2019.

Relocation costs and rental subsidy is also available for the successful candidate.

EARLY INTERVENTION SUPPORT OFFICER

1 Full Time Position – Bourke NSW

The NSW Outback Division of General Practice (ODGP) is a health service provider working to improve the health of people living in the outback shires of Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, and Walgett. ODGP currently has a vacancy for a full time Early Intervention Support Officer and is looking for an enthusiastic and community minded person to join the organisation and contribute to our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in north-western NSW. ODGP manages a variety of health contracts focusing on early intervention, prevention of disease, chronic disease management, mental health care and health promotion programs.

This position will assist in the development of local solutions within Bourke to provide Early Intervention Support and be part of a wider childhood development and integrated strategy which includes engagement of families and providers. A key focus of the role is to mitigate service fragmentation in providing early intervention for children and families and to support local clinicians, schools, agencies, early childhood services and existing telehealth therapy models.

The successful candidate will work closely with and be supported by a multidisciplinary team including Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian and Podiatrist and a variety of training and upskilling options with be provided to support the candidate in this role.
